First of all, I just wanted to wish you and
your family a Happy New Year! I hope
2011 is a fantastic year for you.
I also wanted to update you on a few
things...
1. Income.com (the domain name) was
successfully sold.
Sedo (
sedo.com) one of the top domain
brokers in the world, did a great job of
selling the name for us.
At this time, the company buying the name
doesn't wish to disclose the terms of the
purchase, but it will most likely be made
public in the near future as Sedo usually
reports most of their sales.
From our standpoint, we are very happy
with the sale and our company made a nice
profit on our investment in the name.
I actually don't know much about the
company buying the name other than
what I was told which was they are some
sort of financial services company.
I have no idea what they plan
on doing with it. They put up a little
"coming soon" temporary page but it
doesn't say what their plans are. And
I, obviously, no longer have anything
to do with the name (access to it, etc.)
so I'm curious myself to see what they build
with it. I do, however, wish them the best
of luck with the name.
As many of my customers know, I've been
investing in domain names for over 15 years.
I think good .COMs will always make solid
investments as the Internet will continue to
grow and there are only one of each .COM
name.
I am often asked, "what do you think about
buying .NET, .ORG, etc.?"
While there is money to be made with other
TLDs, my advice is just stick with .COMs
as it's the safest investment. But as with
anything, any investment is a risk so (obviously)
be careful. Buying a domain name has no
guarantee that you'll ever sell it.
2. Our Customer Support Address Has Changed
Because we are on longer using the
income.com
domain name, or able to access it, our primary
support address has changed.
If you need support of any kind, Mercy Sanchez,
my head of Customer Service, has a new email
address. You can reach her at:
mercy@marketingsecrets.com
3. Our Company Is Still In Transition
As I announced a few months ago, we're in the
process of closing down our 'Marketing' company.
We stopped selling all of our products a few
months ago but we still have some obligations
to fulfill -- such as releasing the TS 2.5 update
(sorry for the delay; still working on it) to our
customers (it won't be for sale, just a free update
to existing customers) as well as fulfilling some
other bonuses we had offered. I also plan to
continue this email newsletter for a few more
months, but not sure for how much longer. I'll
definitely let everyone know.
For anyone that's curious, my new video game/entertainment
startup is doing well. Things are growing slower than
I'd like, but the future looks very promising. It's more
about going after a "dream" than anything. I've been
talking about doing this (which many on my list know)
FOR OVER 5 YEARS! So I'm excited about finally "going for it"
and giving it a shot.
I really think the "Mobile Computing" industry is going
to offer some exciting opportunities for entrepreneurs
but it's yet to be seen how many 'small' players can
compete with big budget companies as so many
large companies are now jumping onboard the mobile
computing stuff with apps, services, etc.
4. Update On My Travels
As I announced back in the summer, I decided to get
rid of all of my stuff, move out of California, and travel
indefinitely. And so far I've been to 4 different continents
in 6 months.
I'm currently in Sydney, Australia where I just celebrated
New Years Eve. It was an awesome experience to see
the massive fireworks show in the harbor. They don't
mess around when it comes to putting on a show!
As for where to next, I'm not totally sure yet. I still want
to get to Antarctica to complete my "Continent Sweep"
as it's the only one (lifetime) that I haven't yet visited, but
all the cruises/expeditions there take a pretty lengthy
commitment (multiple weeks) and I'm not yet sure I want
to spend that much time in that cold weather. ;-)
5. Get Your 2011 Off To A Fast Start
I highly recommend you "hit the ground running"
in this New Year and get off to a fast start. No more
procrastinating. Pick ONE new project that you
think has the most promise and work on it until
completion and get it finished. I honestly believe
if you do that you'll see the fastest results.
Yours For Online Profits,
John Reese
